Some of the Spiritual descendants in the ‘Laalaaji’s lineage’ are neither able to sever their connections with the cloister named as ‘Laalaaji Nilayam’ nor they are able to become an epitome of renunciation of the Laalaaji’s idol. This is because the Mission of the current generation is somewhat else. As a result, the self declared Gurus are standing at a bipartite-road. On the one hand, they have a great empire they have created through their ‘sales and marketing skills’ in the name of spirituality and on the other hand they have magnetism of Laalaaji’s love and its magnitude.

Resorting into the same context let me add one instance of Mahatma Dr. Chaturbhuj Sahay, the founder Saint of ‘Raamaashram Satsang Mathura’, one of the trusted disciples of Param Pujya Laalaaji Saahib, who has written (as narrated by his worthy son, Shri Hemendra Kumar) that it so happened that once, Doctor Saahib was sitting in the main room (used exclusively for the Satsang) in the house of Laalaaji Maharaaj in Fatehgarh (UP). Meanwhile a man to whom Doctor Saahib had not seen earlier, entered in and asked him for the pending claim of two installments, which were lying unpaid in his accounts, from the loan amount Laalaaji had taken for the house-building purpose. Doctor Saahib was not aware about this and as a result, both of them were looking at the faces of each other. Soon after Laalaaji Saahib entered in and addressed the person who was a money lender, from whom he had taken a loan of Rs. 500/- (five hundred) for the construction of his house. He regretted for the said two unpaid installments of the loan amount. In fact, Doctor Saahib was lost in the contemplation of the countenance of his Satguru and, as a result, he had developed the incarnate form of his Spiritual Master. This had made the whole scene upside-down for the moneylender and for Doctor Chaturbhuj Sahay, as well.
My true Supreme Guide and Preceptor in human form, Dr. Shyaam Laal Ji (another trusted disciple of Pujya Laalaaji Saahib) often used to say that the Saints are the embodiment of Truth. “The wisdom of enlightenment is inherent in all of us. It is only due to the delusions under which our minds work; we fail to realize it in our lives. It is the Saints alone who wipe- off all such illusions and delusions which had ensnared with and thus they rejoin the missing link with the creator one”. He always used to say that this house (renamed as Laalaaji Nilayam) is not merely a house of bricks and cement but a cloister of truth, itself. He repeatedly used to say- “this is the real abode of the supreme being, where the emanation of the Supreme Spiritual Current is alive and constantly present, even for quite new entrant”.

The eponym of ‘Sufism’ in Fatehgarh, a very small city on the south Bank of River ‘Ganga’, in Uttar Pradesh, in central India, H.H. Mahatma Ramchandra Ji (Laalaaji) Maharaaj, in my opinion was in fact not a Sufi Saint in its traditional sense, but had ‘Sufi-Nisbat’. Adding his name into the Sufi lineage of Naqushbandia Order, renamed as “NaqshMuMRa”, embraces the wisdom of the Saints of all religions and claims that its doctrines derive from the direct experience of the Masters who have attained the highest realms of Spiritual existence. There were some fusions between Islamic Sufism and the Yogic- Hinduism, called a “new kind of Sufism”- such as in Kabir, Mehar Baabaa, and Laalaaji etc. There is little available which revels, what went on between Sufis and Yogis, in the early centuries. A great scholar S.A.A. Rizvi, in his work titled- ‘A history of Sufism in India’, has thrown some light on the actual and possible contact between Sufis and Yogis at the practical Spiritual level.

1. “Right since the beginning, stages after stages of the mystic journey, you have to reach up to the level of perfection. This should accomplish only through your spiritual-master”.
(Marginalia) If by any mischance, you do not get the opportunity to do so, and you have to journey to the other world, then Brother Brijmohan Laal (may God bless him) is the first person to perform this work. You should not behave in indifferent manner with him in any case. Co-operate him whole-heartedly to complete this work. I am sure that he would not leave any stone unturned to do your work.
2. “As far as I know, my spiritual-master Hazrat Quiblaa has given an indication to me that my son Jag Mohan Narain is a clean chit, right from his birth and has attained subtlest of subtle condition of the heart-region (Qulb). However, in my opinion, the journey to such point is, currently, incomplete. He should attain the same.”
“There is difference between ‘genetic-lineage’ and the ‘lineage of adhesion’. In the ‘genetic-lineage’, there is not much need for education and labor. On the contrary, in the ‘lineage of adhesion’ there needs training and does achieve after many years of practice. There is, always, the danger of falling down too, in this case. By God’s grace, the inner progress (of my son) is under direct care of my Hazrat Quiblaa (my spiritual-master). May God keep the result of His Divine Blessings, intact.”

3. “This humble self, so far it was intelligible to me, widely studied the philosophy and faith of different religions, but has found, from the ways and means of my Masters, that if we stick to the tenets taught by Him, it can well be hoped to remain life-like up till last.”
“I confess, I have not been following these canons up till now, to the words. However, I have accepted them from the core of my heart. I am sad that not even a single associate of mine could dare to accept them. Perhaps it was all along my mistake that I never placed them face to face. Nevertheless, I have been discussing such subjects from time to time. I do not know how many of them were able to listen and could grasp the same.”
“It is evident that the offspring are becoming weaker after every generation, when compared to their ancestors. Similarly, there may also be a fall in matters of spirituality and etiquette. However, this is not the fundamental rule once-for-all. God’s grace confined to no limit. At times, a strong lad, similar to the generic structure alike of five hundred years ago, may take birth from a weak parent.”

Grosso modo, l'absence de directives laissées par Lalaji a favorisé les schismes dogmatiques. A l'instar du Docteur Chaturbhuj, nombre de ses disciples ont succombé à l'idolatrie et leurs enseignements spirituels en sont trop empreints pour être fidèles. Sans compter les fourvoiements financiers (sales and marketing skills in the name of spirituality) ! Une pique pour Chari ? Il ne le precise pas, mais…
Quant au testament de Lalaji, il revient sur la différence entre lignée génétique et lignée par adhésion. Lalaji insiste sur le fait qu'il est forcément plus difficile pour l'un de ses disciples d'atteindre un niveau spirituel donné que pour son propre fils. L'avantage génétique est évident, il ne peut être réduit que par l'éducation et le travail. Dont acte, on est d'accord ou pas, peu importe, c'est son point de vue.
Cela signifie tout de même qu'il a préféré son fils à tous ses disciples pour lui succéder dans son œuvre spirituelle. Qu'on imagine mal Babuji devenir son successeur quand il ne l'a rencontré que trois fois en tout et pour tout.
Passons ! Cette règle devrait ensuite aussi s'appliquer au successeur de Babuji. Ses fils étaient mieux placés que ses disciples. Tiens donc, c'est exactement ce qu'ont dit Umeshchandra Saxena et Navneet face à Chari…
Amusant ! Dommage que Dinaysh ne parle jamais des enfants de Babuji…

Je partage complètement les remarques publiées par 4dDon sur son website, à lire impérativement.

Sans les reprendre en totalité, ce nouveau website sent l'arnaque à plein nez. C'est un copier coller approximatif du website de Chari, d'où toutes références à Chari ont été enlevées, pour se concentrer sur Lalaji et Babuji, alors que la structure décrite est celle de Chari. Les documents listés sont de vieux documents, dont ceux de Clark Powell, mais je le vois assez mal tremper là-dedans.

On notera au passage qu'on y parle des 10 commandements et pas des 10 maximes, qu'on fait référence au "Système du Sahaj Marg", expression jamais employée sauf dans la lettre (fausse ?) de nomination de Chari par Babuji en 1974 où il parlait de "président du système du sahaj marg".

L'utilisation du logo de la SRCM™ relevant du trademark devrait entraîner des poursuites judiciaires de la part de Chari si ce website ne lui est pas affilié.

Le nom de domaine sahajmargsystem.com a été déposé le 25 juillet 2008 par Amit Kumar Srivastava, directeur du management de la société informatique Unicode Systems Pvt. Ltd. (www. unicodesystems.in), basée à Lucknow dans l'Uttar Pradesh.

Lucknow fait immédiatement penser à Kasturi évidemment, mais bon ! De même qu'on pourrait aussi relier Amit à SP Srivastava de Lakhimpur (Uttar Pradesh aussi), s'il n'y avait des Srivastava à la pelle.

Bref, un website piège à gogos tant qu'on ne voit pas s'affirmer de différence… ou autre chose !

Like all other patients of sahaj marg, clark is also an escapist. He chose to escape from orkut first and now he has escaped from facebook, what he has failed to realize that he cannot escape from truth, one day or the other he will have to come across the truth and face the reality which is, he has been fooled in sahaj marg, there is nothing spiritual about this cult and he, like many more, has been manipulated.

Sooner they realize this fact, they might prevent some more doors getting shut on their face.

Friends, sahaj marg is not a spiritual system, its a cult, sooner you realize this truth, better for you!

Clark Powell reprend de nouveau ses distances…

Clark Powell, ancien précepteur du Sahaj Marg dans l'Alabama et membre du conseil d'administration de la SRCM aux Etats-Unis, est l'auteur d'un des best seller de la SRCM, "The Sahaj Marg Companion".
D'après Shashwat Pandey, Powell aurait publié divers commentaires sur Facebook où il explique pourquoi il a pris ses distances et finalement décidé de quitter l'organisation. En voici un extrait, selon Shashwat, car ces commentaires ont mystérieusement disparu depuis :

For more than a decade, this article appeared on the official Sahaj Marg and SRCM websites with some of my other published work. These re-appeared (without permission) in various websites and blogs not related to SRCM. I didn't care, as long as they were re-produced accurately and someone found them useful. At the request of Santosh Khanjee in representing the Mission, the rights to this were signed over to SRCM and in a subsequent, much more restrictive legal instrument, he apparently included anything I might write or produce in the future writings.
On 11/3/2009, I requested that my published writings be removed from the SRCM websites, and I am grateful that this request was immediately enacted. For five years, beginning with my return to active participation in February 2003, I began to see something that had not been so pronounced in 1997. The group of less than a half-dozen men that Chariji chose to run SRCM and surround himself had grown more and more powerful. From my own unique vantage point of outside-insider (and this personal relation with Chariji caused considerable jealousy and consternation with some of the insiders) I saw some of the private in-fighting within this group first-hand, and also the power plays and arrogance of certain people. of trying to point out the arrogance and insularity of the circle of powerful, wealthy individuals he had chosen to surround him, especially Santosh Khanjee of Austin,Texas, who reads every email addressed to Chariji before it is forwarded to him. Though I never saw the final version of the DVD set, I was present for most of the tapings, and I hear that some of my questions were included. I find it sad that Cahriji himself is aware of the politics and power=plays, and even spoke of it at his son's farm on the videos. But Chariji has told me on several occasions that even he is captive to the organization he has created.
"If I had my way, I would never leave Satkhol. I would let others run the Mission. But my master would not allow this." I felt I should add a personal clarification to my guru, the gist of which follows:
Sir: No explanation has been asked nor is one needed. Still, after all these years, etiquette seems to suggest some sort of explanation would be right. My esteem for my friends in Sahaj Marg, and to my great Freind, has not lessened. Nor will my gratitude - for everything, even that which was not best for me personally - ever go away. Just so, I remain grateful to professors and grade-school teachers and old friends who taught me things I need at the time - this gratitude will never go, even years later, when you may have moved on to other things. As you remember, on many occasions I did attempt to make these and other views known in private to those who make decisions. I meditated for months and now years over some things, and held my silence. But now I can no longer put off what must be done. I hope you will appreciated, even if you do not agree, that for me This is a matter personal truth, integrity, and responsibility - my own sva-dharma, [the truth of the heart, "one's own way/dharma."] It would be false and wrong to allow the use of my name and my writings to support and to promote SRCM to others when I see that these writings describe a different Sahaj Marg, a Sahaj Marg that no longer exists.

En clair, il semblerait donc que Clark Powell a voulu adresser ses critiques sur la SRCM à son cercle d'amis sur Facebook. Aussitôt que l'information a filtré au-delà de son cercle, il les en a enlevées ne semblant pas vouloir alimenter la polémique au dehors.
Selon le texte fourni par Shashwat, il ne serait pas content que la SRCM et d'autres blogs ou websites diffusent ses écrits ou ses 14 années d'enregistrements de conversations avec Chari. Un accord avait été passé avec la SRCM sur son best seller, et non pas sur ses publications suivantes, mais la SRCM a continué de diffuser ses écrits sans plus rien lui demander. Sont-ce les pertes sur les droits d'auteurs espérés qui le font réagir ? ou le peu de reconnaissance qu'on lui prodigue ?
Powell conserve sa confiance et son amitié à son gourou Chari, mais il critique l'organisation SRCM actuelle, pilotée par une demi douzaine de personnes imbues de pouvoir, tel Santosh Khanjee. D'après lui, Chari lui aurait même dit qu'il se sentait captif de son organisation SRCM, mais que Babuji refuse qu'il en quitte la présidence.
Bref, Powell a fini par écrire à Chari qu'il quittait la SRCM car elle décrit un Sahaj Marg différent de celui des origines.

Quel crédit peut-on accorder à ce texte ?
Cela fait déjà un bon moment que Clark Powell émet des doutes sur la SRCM, s'en éloigne puis y revient pour mieux s'en éloigner. En 1997, il démissionne de toutes ses fonctions. Au printemps 2003, il rencontre de nouveau Chari aux USA puis renoue avec lui lors d'un voyage en novembre suivant à Satkhol en Inde. Courant mai 2004, il met en service un website intitulé invertendo.com pour les "voyageurs spirituels", avec blog et forums. Le 2 juillet suivant, Chari lui ordonne de le fermer : "I have been seeing the mails between you and others proliferating, and this causes me disquiet. By this mail I finally request you to stop your website invertendo.com permanently and oblige. I thank you for your obedience." Powell obtempère immédiatement, mais sa réponse laisse deviner une certaine incompréhension. Sans parler de sa frustration… Jusqu'à sa nouvelle démission en 2009 !

When I discovered a reference to me in this one, I decided to drop a note to thank you and to let you know that I am working on a book that I hope will address many of the concerns expressed and correct a few misconception based on my direct experience and 14 years of recording conversations with Chariji -- I mean recording verbatim, on tape.
I once asked Chari if I could ask him ANYTHING, even those questions some might consider rude or impertinent. He was delighted -- and our conversations ever since have been "no-holds-barred"! I never hesitated to ask the kinds of questions a child would ask, or an enemy -- for enemies are considered valuable gurus to true sadhaks.
Even so, I too once got frustrated with what I thought were the foibles and political machinations of my fellow abhyasis (what group of humans is without these things) and left the Mission to go off on my own to think over some of the issues brought up here, resigned as board member of SRCM USA and as preceptor, and after a spell, returned. I suppose I now have over 200 hours taped of what seems to be a single vast conversation, one in which we have discussed seemingly everything under the sun and maybe a few things OVER the sun as well!
My Master has always insisted that abhyasis think for themselves, and that the REAL "master" is to be found within. There is much I would say about the ancient guru-disciple tradation, beyond what was published in Yoga International or in The Sahaj Marg Companion. But right now I'm amidst the chaos of liquidating all my stuff and moving to India. I'll be offline for a spell but maybe later on I can pick up and clarify.
I'm also supposed to be working on some books, and in the frank and heartfelt discussion on these blogs I find impetus and inspiration -- I thank you all for your courage and honesty!
I don't know how long it will take me to finish the book(s) or video(s) about Chariji and Sahaj Marg but I trust you will stay tuned.
BTW, did you ever hear the one about the demon Ravanna, the sworn enemy of Lord Rama? Seems Ravanna got liberated BEFORE most of Lord Rama's devotees. Chariji told me this was because in Ravanna's passion, he was in constant remembrance of Lord Rama to a great degree.
"I suppose, then, it's important to hate the right people?" I said.
"Yes," Master replied. "Bhakti is comparatively easy -- many can love half-heartedly. But who can hate with constancy and one-pointed purity of a Ravanna?"
Live, love, and laugh a lot (for God's sake, and your own, and for the rest of us, too)! Well, that's all. For now. Stay tuned...
